Why book transfers ahead rather than at reception
Hotel-arranged transport in Bangladesh is convenient but consistently more expensive than the market rate, and the vehicle you get is whatever happens to be outside. For a single short hop that may not matter. Across a week of meetings it adds up considerably.
Booking transfers in advance also means the vehicle class is chosen for the journey rather than by chance, and the driver has the address before the moment you get in the car.

Getting the address right
This is the one part of a hotel transfer that reliably causes problems, and it takes a sentence to prevent.
Several hotels in Bangladesh share similar or identical names across different cities and, in a few cases, within the same city. A driver sent to the right name in the wrong area is a twenty-minute problem at exactly the point in the day where you have no twenty minutes.
So send the hotel name and its area — Gulshan, Banani, Agrabad, Zindabazar. Where a property has more than one entrance, say which one you will be at. And for a departure, give us the time you need to be somewhere rather than the time you would like to leave; the collection is then timed against the thing that actually matters.
Two quite different customers book these. Business travellers want the same run repeated reliably for a week and generally end up on an hourly or daily arrangement instead. Visitors want one or two specific movements handled properly — an arrival, a wedding, a departure — and a fixed price is exactly right for that. Should I book a transfer through my hotel or independently?
Hotel desks are convenient but typically charge above the market rate, and you get whichever vehicle is outside. Booking ahead means a fixed price and a vehicle chosen for the journey.
Will the driver wait if my meeting overruns?
On a point-to-point transfer, waiting is not included by default. If the timing is uncertain, book hourly hire instead and the waiting is part of the arrangement.
Can you collect from any hotel in Bangladesh?
