Why people choose a car over the bus or the train
Bangladesh has good long-distance buses and a rail network that, on some routes, is genuinely pleasant. What neither gives you is control: a departure time that suits you, a door-to-door route, and a vehicle that waits while you stop.
For a family arriving on an international flight with several cases, or for anyone travelling with older relatives or small children, a private car removes almost every difficult part of the journey.

The busiest route we handle is Dhaka to Sylhet, and its reverse, followed by transfers straight from Dhaka airport to Sylhet for passengers landing from abroad.
Coastal travel to Cox's Bazar is the other major long run, usually broken with a stop or planned as an overnight.
Planning a realistic departure time
Highway journey times in Bangladesh vary far more than distance suggests. The 240 km between Dhaka and Sylhet is typically five to seven hours, and can be considerably longer if there is an incident on the N2, because much of the road passes directly through towns and bazaars with no alternative route.
We plan departures around that rather than pretending it does not happen. If you have a hard deadline at the far end — a flight, a wedding, a hospital appointment — say so when you book and we will build in the margin.
The driver's day, and why it shapes yours
A five-to-seven hour drive is a full working day for the person doing it, and on a one-way booking there is a return leg afterwards that you do not see. Being straightforward about that explains several things about how these journeys are quoted and planned.
It is why a one-way trip is not half the price of a return: the vehicle and driver still have to come back. It is why an overnight stay carries an accommodation allowance, stated in the quote rather than raised afterwards. And it is why we plan a proper break into a long run instead of pressing straight through.
None of this is a constraint on you. It is the difference between a driver who is alert for the last hour of a night drive on the N2 and one who is not, which is the part of the arrangement worth paying attention to.

How long does the drive from Dhaka to Sylhet take?

Is a one-way intercity journey cheaper than a return?
Not always. A one-way drop still means the vehicle and driver must return, so the difference is smaller than people expect. We will quote both so you can choose on the real numbers.
Can we stop along the route?
Yes. Comfort, food and prayer stops are normal and included. If you want a planned sightseeing detour, mention it when booking so it is built into the time and the price.
