The N1 in practice
The Dhaka–Chattogram highway carries an enormous volume of freight between the capital and the country's main port. Much of it has been widened, which helps considerably, but the traffic mix is heavy and the pinch points are real.
Departing early — ideally before 07:00 — makes a substantial difference at both ends of the journey.
Business travel on this route
Most of our work here is corporate: staff and management moving between the capital and the port, EPZ zones or industrial sites.
For regular travel, a monthly arrangement or an account with corporate transport is more practical than booking journey by journey.
Continuing to the coast
Chattogram is frequently a waypoint rather than a destination. If you are continuing to Cox's Bazar, that adds another four to five hours — a very long day in total, and one most people split with an overnight stop. See Chattogram to Cox's Bazar.
Breaking the journey sensibly
Five to seven hours is long enough that the stop matters, particularly with children or older relatives in the car. Cumilla is roughly the natural halfway point and has the best range of proper facilities on the route; Feni is the usual second option if you have set off later.
Our drivers stop at places they use themselves rather than whichever roadside establishment appears at the right moment — which is a small thing until it is not.
