Plan by clock, not by map
The distance from HSIA to Gulshan or Banani is short. The time is not predictable. Early morning arrivals can be in the diplomatic zone within half an hour; an evening landing into peak traffic can take considerably more than an hour for the same journey.
That is why we quote this as a fixed transfer price rather than by time. Traffic is our problem to absorb, not something to negotiate at the kerb after a long flight.
Where people actually go
Most arrivals head for Gulshan, Banani or Baridhara — the diplomatic and corporate belt — or to Uttara, which is genuinely close to the airport and the quickest transfer we run in the capital.
Motijheel and Old Dhaka are the longest, particularly in the evening. If your hotel is in the old city, allow properly for it.
If you are heading straight out of Dhaka
A good proportion of our airport bookings do not stop in the city at all. If you are going on to Sylhet, Chattogram or the coast, book the through journey rather than a city transfer — different vehicle, different price, and a driver briefed for a long day.
Landing in the middle of the night
A large share of long-haul arrivals into Dhaka land between midnight and five in the morning, which has one genuine advantage: it is the only time the city moves freely. A run into Gulshan that takes over an hour at four in the afternoon can take twenty-five minutes at three.
The disadvantage is everything else. You are tired, the concourse outside arrivals is still busy, you will be approached repeatedly, and negotiating anything at that hour with a phone that has not found a network is nobody's idea of a good arrival.
Night arrivals are routine for us and are arranged exactly like any other — driver in position, meeting point agreed in writing, sixty minutes of waiting included however late the aircraft is. The hour does not change the arrangement, and it does not change the price.
