Dhaka airport to Sylhet by car

There is no need to go into Dhaka at all. The airport sits in the north of the city at Kurmitola, and the road towards Sylhet leaves in that direction, so a direct departure avoids the worst of the capital's traffic entirely.

Honestly, it depends on who is travelling. Two adults arriving in the morning will manage the drive comfortably. A family with small children and grandparents landing at 3am after a nine-hour flight is a different proposition — that is a five-to-seven hour road journey on top of an already exhausting day.

Where we think an overnight in Dhaka is the better idea, we will say so. It is not the bigger booking, but it is often the better trip.

Arriving from Britain almost always means more luggage than a standard airport run. Four passengers with two cases each will not fit in a saloon, and this is the wrong journey to discover that on.

Night departures from the airport happen constantly, because that is when the long-haul flights land. It is normal work for our drivers, but it is slower and requires more care — unlit sections, slow-moving vehicles without proper lights, and heavy freight traffic.
