Why this is the normal way to do it

For families in Britain, the trip to Bangladesh has a familiar shape: booked months ahead, several people travelling together, an enormous quantity of luggage, and a destination that is a village rather than a hotel.

Arranging transport after landing is the worst version of that. You arrive tired, often in the middle of the night, into a crowded arrivals area, with no local SIM working yet, and you negotiate a price for an unknown vehicle with someone you have never met.

Arranging before you fly removes every part of that. It is not about luxury; it is about the first hour in the country being calm.

What to send when you enquire

The more of this you send at the start, the fewer messages the booking takes.

Flight number and arrival date
So the driver's timing can be set against the actual flight, not a guess.
Passengers and luggage
Both numbers. Luggage, not passenger count, is usually what determines the vehicle.
Destination address
For a village: the village name, the union, the nearest bazaar, and a local contact number if you have one.
Who is travelling
Particularly if there are elderly passengers, small children or anyone needing assistance.
How long you need the vehicle
A single transfer, a few days, or the whole visit — the answer changes what we recommend.

Booking for parents or relatives travelling without you

This is extremely common and entirely straightforward. You are the person we deal with for the booking, the changes and the payment. Your relatives are the passengers.

In practice that means: you confirm everything with us in advance, we send you the driver's name and vehicle details, you pass those to your family, and they simply meet a named driver at an agreed point. If anything needs deciding on the day, we contact you.

It is worth telling us explicitly that you are booking on someone's behalf. It changes who we call when a flight is delayed at 2am UK time.

The time difference, practically

Bangladesh is six hours ahead of the UK in winter and five ahead during British Summer Time. That is usually helpful rather than awkward: a message sent from Britain in the evening is answered first thing in Bangladesh.

For arrivals, the important thing is that someone is contactable at the moment the flight lands, which is frequently the middle of the night in one country or the other. Agree in advance who that is.

Paying from the UK

Payment arrangements vary between providers and should be agreed in writing along with the price. Some bookings are settled locally on completion; some are arranged in advance through a family member in Bangladesh.

Two cautions worth stating plainly. First, be wary of any provider demanding a large advance transfer to a personal account before you have written confirmation of the booking details. Second, keep the confirmation — vehicle, driver, meeting point, price, inclusions — as a WhatsApp message you can refer back to.

We confirm all of that in writing before anything is paid.

Booking a car for the whole visit

If you are in Bangladesh for two weeks or more, daily bookings stop making sense. A monthly car and driver arrangement gives you one vehicle, one driver who learns the addresses, one agreed figure and no daily negotiation.

For families visiting the Sylhet region in particular — Beanibazar, Golapganj, Moulvibazar, Jagannathpur — this is by far the most common arrangement, because the visiting is constant and spread over a wide area.

Weddings arranged from Britain

A large share of Bangladeshi weddings are part-planned from the UK. Transport is one of the easiest parts to handle remotely, provided it is treated as one job across all the events rather than several separate bookings.

Send the schedule — gaye holud, akht, the wedding, the bou bhat, with venues and timings — and we will tell you what vehicles the days actually need. See wedding cars.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book a car in Bangladesh from the UK before I fly?

Yes. The entire booking can be completed on WhatsApp in advance — vehicle, driver, meeting point and fixed price confirmed in writing before departure.

Can I book a car for my parents if I am not travelling with them?

Yes, and it is one of our most common bookings. You are the contact for the booking and any changes; your parents simply meet a named driver at an agreed point.

Do I have to pay before I travel?

Payment arrangements are agreed in writing along with the price. Be cautious of any provider demanding a large advance transfer before confirming the booking details.

What is the time difference between the UK and Bangladesh?

Bangladesh is six hours ahead of the UK in winter and five hours ahead during British Summer Time.

Can someone collect my family from Sylhet airport at 2am?
