Rent a car with a driver in Golapganj

Osmani airport is roughly 30 km away, usually well under an hour. That makes Golapganj one of the easier Sylhet-district destinations for a late arrival, but the village approach still needs planning.

Dhaka Dakshin, in the south of the upazila, is known as the ancestral home of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and draws visitors accordingly.

Beyond that, most journeys here are family ones: visits across the union, trips into Sylhet for hospitals and shopping, and runs out to Beanibazar and Zakiganj.

Nearly always the same way: a WhatsApp message from the UK several weeks ahead, a vehicle confirmed for the arrival, and a monthly arrangement for the rest of the stay.

Golapganj sits on the Sylhet–Zakiganj road, which is what makes it straightforward to reach: a single well-used route out of the city, roughly thirty kilometres, without the detours that longer runs into the district involve.

Off that road it is a different matter. The lanes through Bhadeshwar, Ranaping, Fulbari and the surrounding unions vary considerably in width and surface, and some tighten to the point where vehicle choice is decided by the approach rather than by the passengers.

So when you send the address, mention the lane. If a microbus cannot make the last turn we would rather recommend two smaller vehicles at booking than have a driver reverse a full one back down it.
